LinkedIn has come a long way from being just an online résumé portal. From AI fluency to video-first storytelling, today’s top LinkedIn trends are reshaping how professionals connect, engage and grow.

Here’s what’s hot - and how to make it work for you.

1. AI Fluency Is the New Power Skill

Artificial Intelligence isn’t replacing professionals—it’s reshaping what we’re expected to know. The fastest-growing jobs on LinkedIn in 2025 include AI engineer, AI consultant and AI content strategist. Increasingly, hiring managers are looking to see how you’re using these tools.

Pro tip: Post examples of how you’ve used ChatGPT, Copilot or AI-powered analytics in your workflow. Link to relevant projects or short demos when you can.

2. Video Isn’t Optional Anymore

Native video posts are often outpacing every other format in engagement, and they’re not just for influencers. Executives and team leads are embracing short, authentic videos to connect with their networks in real ways.

Whether it’s a quick thought recorded on a walk, or a team win captured in real-time, LinkedIn video doesn’t have to be polished, it has to be real.

Pro tip: Record a short (30–60 seconds) reflection on a recent lesson, leadership challenge or trend in your field. No studio required. Just hit record, then post.

3. Employee Advocacy Outperforms Corporate Content

People trust people more than brands. That’s why LinkedIn posts shared by employees consistently outperform posts from company pages. Content that feels personal travels farther.

Empower your team to share their own stories. Give them context, not scripts, and encourage tagging teammates or clients. If you’re a leader, model this by showing up on LinkedIn yourself.

4. Polls, Carousels, and Conversations Drive Results

Interactive formats are booming. Polls, carousels (multi-slide PDFs), and posts that ask questions or prompt discussion tend to generate more engagement and a longer reach.

Carousels are especially powerful. They’re educational, swipeable and algorithm-friendly. Use them to break down a complex topic, list key takeaways or summarize industry news.

5. Niche Communities and Micro-Networks Are Growing

The most significant shift on LinkedIn? Going smaller. Professionals are joining niche groups and communities centered on shared expertise or interests. These micro-networks offer high-trust, high-relevance connections - and often lead to new opportunities.

Pro tip: Join or start a LinkedIn Group related to your specialty. Participate consistently. The more specific the network, the more valuable your contributions become.

6. Fractional C-Suite Roles Are Booming

Fractional leadership (offering part-time CFO, CMO or COO support across companies) is one of LinkedIn’s fastest-rising trends. Senior professionals are using the platform to market their expertise and secure multiple strategic roles.

Pro tip: If you’re considering the fractional path, update your LinkedIn headline and about section. Share client wins or strategic results. LinkedIn is your storefront.

What's This Mean for You?

From AI tools to short-form video to decentralized networking, LinkedIn is both faster-moving and more personal than ever before. The professionals getting the most value are the ones showing up with substance, creativity and consistency.

Be visible. Be real. Be ready.
